Kompakt asphalt plant wins four design awards

Pioneerism in adding design to product reaffirms company's reputation as innovator

Ciber Equipamentos Rodoviários has won four design awards with its Kompakt asphalt plant in recent months. The machine, which was launched five months ago, is already being operated in Mato Grosso do Sul, Espírito Santo, Piauí and Amazonas, and is meant for works that must be done quickly and that are located in hard to access areas, like those in high altitude areas of South America, highways with tight curves and in mountainous regions such as the Andes and on narrower highways in Africa.

Awards

In the month of November, the company won the silver trophy at the Confederação Nacional da Indústria's (National Confederation of Industries) Innovation Awards in the category of Medium and Large-sized Business Design, which chose 18 companies out of a total of 150, registered in six different categories. The same month, the asphalt plant was a winner at the Brazil Design Awards, in parallel with Brazil Design Week in São Paulo, organized by the Associação Brasileira das Empresas de Design (Brazilian Design Company Association), in addition to earning a passport to participate in the IF Design Awards in Hanover, Germany. Other victories include a gold award from Idea Brasil and a bronze at the World Idea awards, one of the most prestigious design awards in the United States and worldwide. The Kompakt’s bold design and cutting edge technology earned it a place in the exhibition Design Brasileiro Hoje: Fronteiras (Brazilian Design Today: Frontiers) at the São Paulo Museum of Modern Art, from April to June.

Versatility

According to managing director Walter Rauen, the Kompakt received investments of R$ 1.3 million and its design is entirely functional, since it facilitates its operation and increases, for example, visibility for operators. “The machine is extremely versatile during operation and its design led to a 10% reduction in the machine’s overall weight, making the line even more compact in size and providing an excellent cost/benefit ratio.

Simplicity

Among the equipment’s other attributes, the plant makes it possible mineral aggregates to be loaded from both sides. The tank’s flexibility makes it possible to position it in parallel or perpendicularly and does not require a pre-built concrete support. “Clients no longer need to worry about the details of plant positioning,” he explained. Assembly has also been simplified, as well as being the lightest plant on the market.

Performance

The Kompakt was designed by Ciber’s Research & Development and Engineering department, which invested 15 months in its design and testing. State-of-the-art simulation and modeling software was used, which was fruit of the company investing in research and development. This ensures Kompakt's solid performance, designed to be sold to the main markets in the countries of South America as well in the Caribbean, and Southeast Africa - regions with different geographical characteristics and investment policies in reurbanization and infrastructure.
