Powerful all-rounder with intuitive operation

At Bauma China, JOSEPH VÖGELE AG will be showcasing a new tracked paver for pave widths ranging from 2.55 to 7.8m. The SUPER 1600 L is designed for both small and mid-sized rehabilitation jobs and caters specifically to quality-conscious users focussed on essential functions and simple operation.

World premiere at Bauma China: the new SUPER 1600 L tracked paver from VÖGELE is suited above all to small to mid-sized road rehabilitation projects, and it combines maximum quality with the intuitive ErgoBasic operating concept.

As many as 48 different pavers, 26 screeds and 6 material feeders: as the world’s leading specialist in road pavers and process solutions, VÖGELE offer the right technology for every paving scenario around the globe. To tailor its range even more closely to the specific needs of Chinese customers, the German manufacturer, based in Ludwigshafen am Rhein, has developed a new paver model: the SUPER 1600 L. This Universal Class paver, with its robust technology and intuitive operating concept, is uniquely suited to the demands of tightly scheduled road rehabilitation projects. “A lot of customers want a powerful machine that guarantees maximum paving quality but without all the added functions of our 'Dash 3' machines,” explains Bastian Fleischer, Product Manager at JOSEPH VÖGELE AG. “We therefore concentrated on reduced complexity in operation, reliable equipment and a good price/performance ratio.” The SUPER 1600 L is equipped with the clearly arranged, intuitive ErgoBasic operating system and the Niveltronic Basic System for Automated Grade and Slope Control. With its compact design, powerful 116kW Cummins diesel engine and laydown rate of up to 600t/h, this paver is extremely efficient, robust and versatile: it is ideal for urban job sites or for constructing rural roads and motorways. In combination with the AB 480 Extending Screed and the tamper and vibrator (TV) compacting systems, the machine can achieve pave widths from 2.55 to 4.8m. With additional bolt-on extensions, it can even expand to a maximum pave width of 7.8m.

Versatile rehabilitation pro

The new tracked paver has a successful counterpart: the tried-and-tested SUPER 1880 L. Both pavers belong to the Universal Class and incorporate a number of components identical to those of VÖGELE’s latest “Dash 3” generation, such as the high-traction crawler tracks or the material conveying and auger systems.

The first prototype of the new SUPER 1600 L has already proven its prowess on the job: rehabilitating National Highway 104 in Yuhang district.

The main difference: while the SUPER 1880 L is ideal for a high material throughput and wide pave widths, the more compact SUPER 1600 L hits the mark in the growing road rehabilitation market segment.

Intuitive ErgoBasic operating concept

Maximum simplicity: the ErgoBasic operating concept offers users the key functions they need for high-quality paving.

The ErgoBasic screed operator's console (bottom of image) and the Niveltronic Basic remote control unit support precision steering and grade and slope control with the SUPER 1600 L.

The SUPER 1600 L is controlled via the ErgoBasic operating system, which offers users the key functions they need to achieve high-quality paving, including for instance clearly structured function and status indicators, different operating modes, glare-free backlighting for night-time jobs and simple steering with the SmartWheel. Users can operate the SUPER 1600 L quickly, precisely and intuitively right from the paver operator's and screed operator's consoles. “ErgoBasic was designed specifically to meet the needs of Universal Class paver users,” says Fleischer. “It offers all the basic functions of the proven ErgoPlus operating system, with functions practically arranged in logical groups, meaning that its operation is extremely easy to learn.”
